B.COM — a service provider in the business of selling know-hows. The core company businesses are successful implementation of innovative Service and Business Assurance solutions and the creation of necessary management infrastructures and processes.
Challenge
The main business of B.Com is selling services. According to their experience and market demands they understood that a Service Inventory system able to store and effectively manage service information in order to support a company's business activity related to services is highly demanded.
The system has 2 main requirements:
- ability to keep all related information and sort it by customers, locations, or any other required criterion
- ability to search and sort huge amount of data meaning that the system should be very quick-performing. Otherwise it would take too much time to make a request and the system usage would not be really effective.
Solution
Initially the software was targeted for telecom industry but in reality the Service Inventory system can be easily customized to any industry and type of service.
Sunbay suggested to design the system based on two related catalogues. The product catalogue defines and stores 'product specifications' (definitions and rules) and templates. The other catalogue keeps all created services allocated to customers, their locations or companies.
This structure offers great advantages for different system users (product and service managers) working with Service Inventory. All data are managed in the same way while they are clearly separated according to the service type, customer, or any other required criterion.
At the same time the system provides full information on available services and products including version control, status, etc. Service Inventory is easily customized to any type of business and can be effectively used for mapping the company services and the customer's requirements (Service Level Agreements, SLA).
Thanks to easy navigation, user-friendly interface, and high performance the Service Inventory system was one of the core B.COM products which builds the rest of its business on it.
